The different types of contact
The two main types of contact are supported and supervised. Parents do not have to meet at any of the contact sessions.
Supported Contact
Our supported sessions are suitable for families where trust has broken down or communication is difficult and a neutral space is needed. Apart from attendance dates and times, no detailed reports are written unless risk of harm becomes apparent to the child, parent or centre worker.
Supervised Contact
Our supervised sessions are provided when there are more complex issues or a child is at risk of harm. The sessions take place in a one to one observed setting and a report is provided following the session.
Handover Service
Our handover service is suitable where there is no requirement for contact to take place in the centre but the adults involved in the child’s life do not want to meet or can’t meet to facilitate contact
Virtual Contact Service
Our online service is available for both supported and supervised contact. It can work well for older children and young people where there has been a period of absence. It can also be used in addition to actual contact sessions where the non resident person lives a long distance away.
Indirect Contact
Our indirect service is used where one parent can not know the address of the other but can send gifts and letters. The content is posted to us and checked for inappropriate content before forwarding to the child.
