We were delighted to meet Takada and Utako today from Hiroshima University and Kansai University of Welfare Sciences. They are in the UK to learn and share good practice around Family Time and spend time with NACCC looking at accreditation as they embark on the process of setting up an accreditation system for Japanese centres.
Takada told us that Japan has far fewer Family Time centres than the UK despite being a much bigger country and only provide supported services currently. Most Family Time Coordinators are mediators or probation officers.
Takada and Utako are very driven and passionate about raising awareness of Family Time Centres in Japan. It was such a pleasure to meet them.
We asked to stay in touch with our new colleagues and suggested twinning centres in Japan with centres in the UK. We’d love to see a contrasting ‘Day in the Life of’! We are very much looking forward to joining one of their upcoming video networking events and we’re already dreaming of a trip to Japan to meet the teams at the centres, learn and share good practice and enjoy the Japanese culture! One day…
Thanks to Elizabeth Coe for arranging the visit, we are inspired and excited about what’s to come!
